Greater Cleveland's Amateur Radio Group
On May 27, 1969, the last Tuesday of that month, a group of Hams interested in repeaters who had been meeting informally for some time decided to form a new Amateur Radio Club - The Lake Erie Amateur Radio Association. Someone mentioned that this new club would need a leader and Bill Hess, K8SGX, volunteered and became LEARA's first president. And thus was born what would become the largest Amateur Radio club in the greater Cleveland area! For over 40 years LEARA has been providing public service and emergency communications of Northeast Ohio. The club call signs are WB8CQR and WR8ABC, and the club is an official ARRL affiliated club. Welcome to our site! Please explore the links to the left and don't forget to join us at one of our meetings! Streaming D-STAR AudioWant to hear what D-STAR is all about?
