Since 1969, The Lake Erie Amateur Radio Association has been serving the greater Cleveland area. LEARA is an ARRL affiliated club and incorporated in Ohio as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization which makes LEARA eligible to accept charitable donations.
LEARA also provides health and welfare communications for public service events such as various marathons, triathlons and races. These events have benefited from the additional support that an open net communications system can provide.
Mission Statement:
LEARA's Mission is to promote and foster for its members, the enjoyment of Amateur Radio.

We will accomplish our mission through the sponsorship of:
- Educational programs and courses.
- Promoting license upgrades.
- Continuing education courses for all the above.
- Club sponsored events.
- Club sponsored activities.
- Community service and public service projects.
- Charity projects.
- By supporting Hamfests, trade shows and other Amateur Radio events.
- By designing, installing and maintaining a comprehensive state-of-the-art repeater network.
- By promoting the training of Amateur Radio operators for emergency and public service, especially during periods of disaster or emergency.
Trustees:
In October of each year, the membership elects a Board of Trustees. At the November Trustee meeting, the sitting Trustees elect the Club Officers from among themselves.
