Skywarn Spotter Training
by Mat Nickoson, KC8NZJ

Selected to be a Skywarn Trainer by the Cuyahoga County Emergency Management Agency and freshly-practiced from recent ARES and Skywarn training sessions, Mat Nickoson, KC8NZJ, will be our featured speaker at LEARA's April meeting. Yes, it's time to brush up and be ready for the spring storm season!

"This will get you your Skywarn Spotter Number (unless you already have one), and bring you up-to-date on the new protocols," Matt commented. "It will be a slightly compressed version of the usual spring spotter training sessions."

What are the frequencies we all should monitor and when? Do you remember how to "read the cloud formations" that spell trouble ahead? Do you know what to report and what NOT to report?

We will meet as usual at MiMi's, 7528 Broadview Road, Parma, for our dinner meeting. Dinner is at 6:30 PM and is all inclusive (including taxes/tip!) at $15 per person, payable when you arrive. Dinners all include non-alcoholic beverage, salad bar, soup and dessert, and one of the following entrees: marinated chicken breast, roast beef, baked white fish, or rigatoni and meatballs.

Please make reservations for your entree choices no later than 9:00 AM on Monday, April 27, at the LEARA website or to Marv Grossman (440-248-0031). We hope to see you at MiMi's on Tuesday, April 28th!
